One day Satan and Jesus were having a conversation.

Satan had just departed from the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting.

“Yes, sir, I just caught a World full of people down there. I set me a trap and used a little bait. I knew they couldn’t resist. Got ‘em all!”

“What are…

Learning through James

image

So. I’ve started reading James.

First out. It’s amazing. It is so jammed packed everything that is written is so applicable and has such an astounding, resonate with our lives.

The first of many things that I was struck by was v5-8:

5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

Us doubting in God is such a problem! How can we have faith in his promise of the resurrection and not trust him to give us wisdom when we need it? We can’t. When we start to put human limitations on the most high and holy God, we’re not only kidding ourselves we’re also saying; you know what Jesus, I don’t believe that what you did on the cross was enough. And when we try to add anything of our own worth or acclaim to it, it just completely cancels the value of the cross and Jesus’s actions.

When we try to limit God,  we become unstable, and ‘should not think that he will receive anything from the lord’. The world loves to tell us we’re not good enough. And the reality is, it has a point. Really we aren’t, we all fall short of God. But it is jesus that gets us to heaven, belief, if we are rooted in him then we need to throw off these connotations that God can be compressed into a box of logic or reason. That he has to abide by the rules of nature and time. We need to remember he made the rules to create order, he enforces them but is not restrained or enforced BY them.  God is free to do what he wants.

When we have trust and faith in the Lord, we can also pray and know that with certainty he hears us and that he will provide. God says amazing things like when you cry out to me, I listen. He even says I cannot ignore the cries of the afflicted. He hears O ye of little faith. His promises are fulfilled. Always. Which of us can say that? His faithfulness continues to astonish me. And his provision! Let us not raise barriers to his works saying we aren’t ready, the Lord’s plan will always succeed even through the meekest. He will provide what is needed for his pure and perfect plan. How much more then are we blessed with what he has given to us.

Therefore let us pray with certainty that the great and awesome lord of the universe hears us and will remain faithful and provide all that is needed for his plan. Which is so much larger and greater than any of our own. Therefore let us cast all our worries onto him and know that he is faithful to his people.

Plans.

image

According to Plan; I would be so happy.

According to Plan; I would know what I wanted

According to Plan; I would have a plan

According to Plan; Dreams would come true

According to Plan; I wouldn’t be stressed

According to Plan; I’d be thankful

According to Plan; I would be at peace

According to Plan; I wouldn’t suffer

According to Plan; I wouldn’t know pain as well as I do

According to Plan; I will be holy.

Well life is Not going According to Plan. At least not yet.
